you'll always make more selling it per item. lots of people can buy 100-500+ items, but not alot will drop say 2k on the whole setup. and its not often needed. Only thing im missing for a complete spare parts setup is a driveshaft, wear ring and prop.

Just my opinion but, there is a reason guys buy skis and "part them out". They make more money then selling complete. I know guys that buy stock skis and part them out for more money... These aftermarket skis have a "personal touch" to them, and unless its a perfect fit, I'm not dropping 22K on a complete ski for a reason as simple as as the hull being pink, the turf being a color I don't like, or one of those colored ADA heads with 5 people's logos all over it... for 22K it better be 100% what I want ready to ride! Along with all the other adjusts to fit my personal riding style, I also have a way I like to run my fuel lines, cooling lines, etc. I see it happen here all the time. The seller has a hard time finding a buyer so he sells the hull and every other component separately.

I think it also depends on time of year. If its end of summer I think parts for sure. If its spring time and you are building a RN SJ for the average sale price of around 5k for a nice limited set up and its attractive looking ski. I think people are buying those. The tradeoff will be spending time to putting together a ski vs spend time talking with 100’s of people to fine the ones willing to give you money and running to the PO several times. This hits home for me b/c I’m building up a nice RN SJ for the sole purpose of flipping to sale, I used a cheap donor couch for most of the parts. I think I’m better off having it RTR, but I also really enjoy building skis.

I would be interested to see a pricing breakdown of parts for a stock RN SJ.

It's more of what people are willing to pay and where you are selling. The people parting out used skis for profit aren't selling here really unless they are doing some serious haggling or selling high volume with smaller margins. We are all die hard DIY jet ski guys, know what the parts are worth and want them for the cheapest amount. I never get what I want for parts on here, but sometimes it's the only place to sell a specific part like a RRP pole bracket. Joe Shmoe on ebay is looking to replace his stock part with another used stock part and will skip right over the RRP Pole bracket. Go to ebay and you'll see the prices for stock parts all day long that sell for more than they would here. Compare that with OEM pricing on rivaracing.com.

I agree with @imabadfish, but they don't call is "FEEbay" for nothing. I would rather sell the parts I don't need on here to fellow members who need them. I have built up several skis with clean parts that I got on here for a good price. Plus I have built up some good relationships with fellow riders.

@Sanoman if you have a couple of different setups on the bench, could mix/match pieces to create a package for someone who is building up a hull? That would have been great to get a package deal on most of the parts I needed to build my hull...

Have to agree that parting out a ski will bring much more.Bought and sold a number of parts on here.Sometimes you win, other times,well......l generally think you break even.Figuring out how much you have in parts plus various items that goes with a major part plus stainless bolts, nuts, and washers that you make trips to the hardware store to get can get expensive.l have to thank ScottS for thinking about all the incidental's that l forgot
Appreciate the input.

He just called you "old", I don't think you are old. I'd be happy to give you $2001 (as long as price is right rules apply) ;)

I made the mistake of putting together a spreadsheet of everything you need to build a bare hull... The cost of the parts you don't think about really add up
