Please excuse my ignorance but could someone please explain the benifits of a cutback impellor and what part of it is actually cutback? :boggled: :dunno:

From what I understand the hub is cutback to sit closer to the pump veins form more hook up....... Impros cutback my prop 3mm but I believe you can go 5mm.........

what spdwrx said. rear of hub is cut to sit closer to the pump veins, impros usually recommends 3mm to have a safe clearance from the pump veins. You can go more but it would be a good idea to send in your pump too to make sure there wont be any clearance issues.

Ok thanks, that all makes sense, so does it give a noticable improvment in hook up or is it one of those "every little bit helps" things?

every little bit helps
the area between the prop and the stator is an area to cause cavatation
by reducing it there is less chance of cavation
the space is left large from the factory to allow for rocks in the pump with out smashing stuff
when you cut it back a rock in your pump will destroy your stator
