http://www.uscomposites.com/fillers.html
and this is the page for the fibreglass cloth that i would use j
http://www.uscomposites.com/cloth.html#sglass
fair it out with epoxy and microbaloons
Sglass/kevlar
10layers (9oz and 5oz kevlar) and its still too thin
I will be making an order of baltek 2mm coremat to try to get more thickness/strength
the Duratec primer is the shizz for mold making
You can get everything you need at www.uscomposites.com. For quick build up and reinforcing I used the 1208 biax with epoxy resin. For a final layer to smooth the areas out a little better I laid 2 layers of 6oz woven fabric. Go with the quick hardener if the area your working in can't stay heated all the time, otherwise it could take over 72 hours to fully cure with the medium hardener.
For filler, I used the microballon powder and mixed it with the epoxy. It's easy to sand and lightweight.
I tried using chopped strand mat to build thickness and it sucks to work with. Imagine trying to spread honey on a giant hair ball. I'm going to try a thicker fabric next time. I also ordered from US composites and will be trying the fast hardener next time. I had to wait several days before I could sand using the medium hardener at about 60 deg F.
DO NOT use traditional chop strand mat with epoxy resin. The mat has a chemical binder in it that does not allow epoxy resin to adhere and / or wet out properly. You can use the chop strand mat with polyester or vinyl ester resins only. Keep in mind, polyester resin does not adhere to SMC worth a sh*t either.
