Super Jet What to do with my ignition....

Looking to take my motor a little farther in power. I see people changing up ignition and stuff (Advent, MSD, Epic, ATP) and wondering what options I have. I can either spend little money or lots cuz im gonna get a a/m hull soon so i wanna do it right the first time. I can build a motor all day long but electronics i get steered away from lol. Any help is appreciated, Thanks

The main benefit of the MSD TL is the increase in spark strenght. An interesting alternative is the FLAME from ATP or you can go budget way and lighten your flywheel and get an EPIC.

I'd consider the spark strength as primarily a marketing gimmick and not all that important.
What makes MSD and ATP TL a great performance add-on is the programmable ignition curve (huge gains) and the light flywheel without magnetic drag from charging.

I this order..
1.) Programing curve - sparks pointless if its not timed correctly
2.) Spark energy - burn everytihng in the cylender so that pipe signal is not as critical
3.) Lightened flywheel - rotating crank mass
4.) magnetic drag (allthough i'd be suprized if thats really that much of a factor)- reduce drivetrain drag?

my .02 shot in the dark, but i dont know chit about T/L, never ran one myself.

Been reading on the ATP E.P.I.C ignition with programmable curves from the laptop. Any feedback on this system with a #ZERO lightened flywheel/ TBM gen 2 lightweight charging flywheel?

With the spark from my MSD i ran my plug gap at .45 instead of .32 and plugs were a nice brown. Pulled it out because buyer of ski didnt want it and the boat would barely run. Changed gap back to .32 and it runs albeit with a lot of smoke. MSD spark in my experience is pretty strong.

hhmm, kinda scares me that there is so many options that will work and sooo many that wont. ill do more reading on how this stuff works and make decisions from there since im new to the electronic side, Thanks all for your input!!

I suggest you ask Chris - (QJS) about integrating EPIC module with that flywheel - he will know best as he is the manufacturer (ATP) of the Epic

Another vote for MSD. Been running it for years and absolutely LOVE IT! However, I would like to point out that if spark energy was as awesome as everyone seems to think it is, then why can't we tell the difference between a stock coil and an MSD coil when running TL? Also, if this were the case, we could just stick some almighty coil in a stock ignition and kick everyone's butt.

I ran the tbm flywheel with the epic and it had alot of power gains over the msd and stock flywheel. Nothing like TL though.
