Im starting to gather parts for my engine build and some are greasy, have crust built up on them, etc. Whats the best way of cleaning say cases, cyl, tec. Can a machine shop at carquest do something like that, would they have any type of bath to put them in. I would idealy like to get them spotless with no paint or anything so i can paint them later. WHat ya'll do???

I got one of those, its pretty awesome.

Got it for when we used to race go-karts, we rebuilt engines every 2nd race or so.

advance auto parts "brake clean" and some clean rags... its about.....$2 a can, and works wonders for the cheap price and for doing it at home :woot: :woot: after that you can get some "aircraft stripper" (blue and white can) about $7 from wal-mart in the automotive section and brush that on the paint and once it bubbles up (5 min, dont let it dry) wash it off with a hose....FYI dont get the aircraft stripper on u b/c it burns a lot :scared:if u do get it on u water can neutralize it but it still hurts for a lil bit :banghead: :banghead: you mihgt have to do the stripper a few times to get it all off but good luck! hope this helps:cheer2: :cheer2:
