OK guys please help me out cuz i'm new to this jet ski thing, I have a 88 650sx, that is bone stock except for the bars and ride plate, i have blocked the oil pump and gone to premix, thats it. I want to know what everone is boing to thier 650's as in what pipe, impeler and all the other mods to get some more punch out of this thing. Any help and info would be greatfull.:beerchug:

I think most people would tell you to save your money up for a 701 VS: spending money on hopping up the 650.

So you are money ahead of the game for a 701 but if you want to pipe it and shave the head go for it.

Most are going to tell you to sell it and buy a sj which are awesome, but if you are a beginning the 650 is a good learner ski and really easy to work on.
yeah I was in the same situation. I got a 650sx super cheap for my first ski, rode for a summer and got rid of it to get into a superjet. I seriously agree with mark, it would be wise to enjoy that for what it is until you save for something else.:headbang:

If you are set on upgrading the SX.... a coffman (or Factory) pipe and 8/16 skat will definetly wake it up. But saving for a sj is a better investment....lol

These are my choices for aftermarket pipes:
1) Factory Pipe
2) DG Performance (rare but very similar to Factory Pipe)
3) Coffman's (make sure it's a later style one made out of aluminum instead of the earlier stainless pipes that are a little smaller)
4) Westcoast (a very sturdy pipe design that doesn't give any problems, just doesn't give the same power gains as the others)
Only impellers I've ever tried are:
1) Solas 14/19 - on a very quick boat with a limited setup. This boats easily hangs with a stock SXR all day long and only slightly behind the SXR with the Factory Pipe Wet Pipe.
2) 17* Skat Trak - similar boat setup but not as great of impeller. Really suffered in bottom end but the top end ripped

Solas 13/18 or a straight pitched 15.5* impeller.
