Can some one give me advice on what is a good oil to use, I'm running an SJ with a 774cc motor with a B-pipe, 175psi, 44 Blackjack carbs (2). MSD enhancer. I've been using Klotz R50, but WOW that stuff is expensive. Any other good brands at a lower price?

do you get a lot of gunk with the benol or do you rebuild very frequently?

Burns clean.............. But, my SXR is set up for Raceing (Stock) when I do ride it at the lake, it is always WOT..... SJ is ported........

would not use this for a stock boat that you are gonna be cruising on.

I normally run Amsoil dominator, but I was riding with a guy last year whos exhaust smelled like a Nitro RC or something. He said it was pump gas but the oil he was using smelled like that anybody know what it is?

Either canola or flax seed.

Or I just run good ol' Yamalube at 50:1. I've got 100% stock internals though.

Yamalube is just about the same thing as Pennzoil or any of the other relatively cheap semi-synth's just with a different dye. I use Pennzoil semi-synth, or valvoline, whatevers cheapest, semi-synth, TC-W3, and not Walmart priced.

I just got a SJ. Is the yamalube good stuff to use, or sould I invest in something better? I dont care how much it cost to an extent if it makes the engine last. Also whats the best way to measure and mix the gas oil.

Seeing as how your SJ is stock, yamalube is certainly fine for it. However, the same stuff can be had cheaper, Like I mentioned above, anything semi-synth, TC-W3, and cheap. I stay away from walmart. Pennzoil or any store brands (Ie west marine brand) all work just as good as yamalube. Yamalube is mediocre quality at a higher then you should have to be paying price. However, mediocre quality is all you need especially on a stock machine.

Measuring? I use an ounce marked measuring cup to measure 14 ounces to 5 gallons for my stock machine, 16 to 5 for the one with add-ons. 14 to 5 is a hair over 50:1 (12.8 to every 5) some people also use ratio rite things, however I always like to add a touch more oil then recommended for piece of mind.

I've been using the Penzoil semi-synthetic. They have a full synthetic also, haven't tried that yet. I would probably switch to a higher end oil if my ski wasn't stock.

I'm sure it was castor oil...

Maxima 927! I used to run it in my dirt bike, it smells great, run it with 110 octane fuel and your ready for a night on the town smelling of the stuff..

However, I have heard that it doesn't lube as well as other oils and so you shouldn't run it all the time.

I plan to run this stuff once in a while this summer but will most likely be running a different type of oil most of the time... maybe amsoil... maybe walmart brand... who knows?
