Custom/Hybrid What does a prop that's too steep feel like?

I am playing around with the idea of going with a lessor prop in my 951 SXR (currently 16/24 bend at 5200 elevation).

I dont have a good knowledge of what different props feel like. Whats a prop that is too steep feel like?

It feels like I am starting in second gear and once the mid-range hits my ski takes off. Anytime I am at the 0-1/2 throttle the ski feels slow. I have played with my carbs and know the issue doesn't lie there. The power band does not feel smooth until mid throttle and then the rpms jump up and the speed breaks out.

I suppose it could also be loss of some compression at this alitude?

too steep a prop, nozzle exit is to small. basically you have more pump pressure then your motor can power through.
