What do I need to get this running, what am I missing?

Alright, I'm trying to get one of my other ski's running, so that my wife could ride with me or more likely a buddy. Here is what I have:
-6m6 cylinder
-61x cylinder (plan to use if I can)
-6m6 cases
-6m6 crank (not sure if I can use it, check out the pics)
-flywheel ? (no idea if its missing something)
-engine mounts (are these good ?)
- is there a step by step tutorial on rebuilding a motor?
- I should have all the electricals
- midshaft (how do you check this)

I know I need an exhaust, pistons/rings/pins, head, domes?, filter, what else? If anyone has what I need just lying around; I will take your stock parts for free, or real cheap, I don't want to spend a lot of money, just want to get the ski running/reliable.

All the pictures are located in my gallery, please let me know your opinions....:hail: :hail:

Thanks,
Chad

to be honest, unless someone GIVES you everything you need, you will end up with at least a couple of hundred bucks in that 650.. ( gaskets, and misc stuff)

you might be better off just buying a complete 701, and using what you can as spares or selling it off?

I'm Ok with that, I just don't want to drop say like $400-500. My main concern is if the crank and rods are any good? How do I tell, or if someone knows where I can take this stuff in Tampa Florida to have it checked out. I am mechanically inclined, I basically rebuilt my motor in my 97 GSX, clutch swap, fuel delivery, turbo, fmic, gauges, electrics, etc, just can't tune for $hit... I just don't know much about motor internals. There is rust on the crank, missing a complete piston, the remaining doesn't look great.

Of course, I would rather buy a motor and slap it in there and go...anybody have one for a good price.

Again, thank you for all of your opinions, keep them coming...

rough and dirty way on the crank.

no noisey bearings, no rusty rollers in them.

they must spin free and not 'grind'

rods arent blued on the piston end ( from heat)

and they must be straight, and there are specs for the side to side play on the rods.

for isntance, move the rods forwards and backwards ( towards front of boat and rear of boat) it should have a small amount of play or none at all.

you are likely going to need bore+pistons, you are over $200 right there, then gaskets.... $70 or so...

If you have the patience, I think your better off putting that coin towards a 701.

OR buying a 650 and running it.

someone said it before, 650s arent really worth putting back together, when it costs about the same to build a 701..

I have an extra clymer's manual for a 650 SJ you can have for shipping. I bought one off ebay and they sent me two. It tells how to check the tolerances on the crank, and how to put the motor together. I've finally collected all the pieces to build a 701. I have about $500 in it, and I'll have to take the carb, starter, and electronics off my 650. Then I'll sell the 650 shortblock. You can get a complete motor for 500 to 600 sometimes. Like mouth said your gonna spend at least 200 for pistons and gaskets to put that 650 together. I just got some new OEM pistons from Wamiltons for $60. They sell them on ebay occasionally.
