First let's make this crystal clear , this is the asking price, most of you have never seen one of these setups , those that have probably only saw them in a magazine or on a thread here, to say it is rare is an understatement , I personally have only seen two working systems in the last 40 years.

It's not eating anything and it can stay on the shelf where it's at now just fine , it won't cost me a penny to keep it for another ten years.

I have seen them go as high as $1800, this particular one is $1400 because it does not have the original front cover , what it does have is new aluminum electrical box fittings, new aluminum caps for the fittings, new plug wires and MSD spark plug boots , these systems must run non resistor everything and that is the way this is set up.

I have it apart because I am having a new front cover made right for it , I will be working on putting it back together after I have hip replacement surgery on the 19th.

It is a complete setup with an anodized Aluminum flywheel and a flywheel puller , I ran this on the 300SX when it had the 550 reed motor in it.

You must run a Westcoast , pjs or Coffman pipe in the ski to clear the electrical box , the starter solenoid is insde the box so the Oem electrical box is removed and not used with this setup..

Right now I am gauging interest and around the middle to end of January it should be completed and ready to sell.

I will post new pics when it is fully assembled and ready to go, both with and without the front cover installed .

I am not planning on building another 550 with a 550 engine installed so I am letting this go , this is someone's chance to own a piece of Jetski history and when it's gone , it's gone..

IT IS NOT FOR SALE AS IS , DON'T EVEN ASK THE ANSWER IS NO, NO , NO and HELL TO THE NO, NO , NO !.

Be much more fun to build out the ultimate 550 engine with this and your other fanciest parts and make a coffee table out of it. :)

I have pretty much liquidated all those parts or used them on other builds , I had a 550 reed since before the skis actually came out till about 10 years ago , I am not like most of these guys trying to relive the glory days, I lived them already , any more 550's I build will have 650 Kawi or 640 Tigershark engines in them , good . cheap and fast..

If I really wanted to do that a friend of mine has a 440 that I built years ago, I converted it to a 550 with all the goodies , Aluminum 440 cylinder with 550 sleeves, porting , an Ocean pro head, Westcoast ex manifold and pipe, Ocean Pro 45 degree intake manifold 44 carb ,Ocean pro vortex flame arrestor, skat trac impeller , Ocean pro nozzle, Westcoast ride plate , custom paint job , Ocean pro mats , it's just sitting in his storage shed somewhere. The ski probably has like 5 hrs on the engine.

I dropped it off yesterday at a facility to have a new front cover water jetted out for it , I can only duplicate the original cover to an extent since it was a cast piece with a bit of depth to clear the coils , so instead of that it's now going to be two pieces with two gaskets creating the proper spacing , I also researched some tricks to make the cover look like a cast piece , I am still contemplating on how and if I want to add the logo back onto the cover , I depends on how the cover actually turns out and the price , I think it will turn out pretty well , I hope so because water jet cutting around here is not cheap .

Cover is in hand , I started cutting out the gaskets , I am undecided if I should try to duplicate the cast finish or mirror polish it and bling it out.

A decision was made , I am pretty happy with it, maybe someone else will be as well.

I am going to hit it with the never dull and bring it on out to a mirror finish and possibly slap a Westcoast decal on it and call it good.
