Hey guys, it's been almost 2 years since I've been on this site and on my blaster and sj, however; I'm getting back in the game. My blaster is a 701(obviously) bpipe, protec head, msd ignition, riva waterbox, single carb, mm think it's a 36. My rear cylinder has no compression, my front is running at 155psi :)my first impression is a head gasket, pending that, i may even change the head back to stock, what do u guys think?:)

Thank you

There are a number of things it could be, all of which will require you to tear it down to locate and fix the problem. Pulling the head is step one to inspect eh gasket, the piston/rings, and the cylinder wall. There is a service manual for it here if you don't already have one:

Plan on a new top end worth of gaskets and good possibility of at least a hone if not a new bore and pistons.

Well with that being said, I guess taking the motor out would be a good idea, pending removal, of the head gasket to determine further tear down, now considering it may just be a head gasket situation, followed by a complete top end tear down, in which I'd prefer to do over the winter, so I could at least get some riding in... In other words replace the gasket if that's the issue, the do a complete tear down over the winter...??

The protec head should have O rings at least mine did. Leave the motor in the ski to pull the head, if anything looks bad you can pull it the rest of the way out. Why do more work then you have to.

Well it looks as if I need top end replacement, the rear cylinder looks as if the top was chewed the he'll up, called riva to order new set up plus new head, a nice whopping 600 bucks, unless of course anyone has a nice used Ada head that they would like to sell me?
