Waveblaster Mods?

Anyone ever tried to shorten a B1 or move the pump foward?
If so, what types of issues did you run into/ what types of issues could you run into?
Also, has anyone ever done any footwell modslike lowering them or holds? or lowered the back deck?

I am curious to see how these types of mods would make the ski handle and whether or not they would make it easier for surf riding.

I assume you've seen blaster800's dropdeck build? I think it has stalled out but still worth a look.

I saw an overseas build of a black flat deck blaster a while back but can't find it now. Did it maybe even have a pole on it? Someone posted a link to a page with pics and a short write up on it. It didn't really seem like that great of an idea but interesting none the less.

ya it looks like it! I didnt know Frank was working on that! looks interesting as said.

Your footholds are an interesting idea, how do they fair when you are riding?

nice concept but i'll stick with straps.

that looks like it would definatley hurt.
the straps make it easier to board in the surf and deep water.
as with the (walk the plank) seat mod also.:sneaky:

Wow ?...I really think its only a matter of time before you get hurt on this mod IMO, and the reason I say this is that the boarding handles alone can leave a nasty bruise on your ankles,I have removed my boarding handles for this reason, however I do like how you think outside the box and tried something different . You mention you dont like straps due to your big feet and shoes , you have the option of making your own straps like I have done using a conveyor belting material and mounting like my pic shows . I came up with setup and for me its perfect and the only cost was time ! the nice thing is you can make em fit your feet /shoes the way you want , I like em loose ''but not too loose '' cause when the next big wave is commin and your looking for the strap with your toe you wont miss with his one and its not bulky yet still retains its form perfectly, I ya need any of this stapping I may have xtra for a bro B-1 rider ...........anyways I hope your version works out for ya .

sorry Zim I got off track ,LOL ! to answer your question: ''No'' not that i have ever read in this forum anyways . FWIW while my hull is open I planned to shorten it about 2 inches back to the plate bolts anyways , but presently my hull is snowed under !

Yeah I saw your post! What you are doing looks like it is going to turn out very well! I like the way you have planned it! I was wondering how it could be lowered and then I saw your posts. Question, why did you steer away from just replacing the footwell area that you had cut out?
I bet its snowed under, we still have snow down here in VA too! I will interested to see how the shortening will effect the way the hull rides! I was thinking about moving the pump forward and installing a SJ drive shaft.

Well keep us posted on that hull when it thaws out! I will let you know what Landon and I come up with when we start chopping the hull up!

QUOTE : (Question, why did you steer away from just replacing the footwell area that you had cut out? ) Zimmy... Im not sure which one I will use yet .. Im thinking it may be easier to re-lay the whole floor over a foam base rather than build an inside lip,lay the floor , and then glass more over that , im undecided ATP !

not a prob, those footholds were pretty unique. I really like the idea and would like to get a ride on that ski oneday to try them out!! I have been thinking of new ways to do footholds on a B1, but its kinda hard without the standups wall to cut them into.

Frank, are you going to foam the rear of the ski?
