Waterproofing the electrics

What do you guy`s use for waterproofing the electrics.
Just put on a jetinetics total loss and it seems to not like getting wet.

Have you any tips for waterproofing the connections at the coil and in the loom.

Has anybody tried to get an aftermarket system back in the original electric box.

Depending on the TL box make sure it is sealed fully w/ silicone or 5200. Dielectric grease on all connections to prevent corossion. Soldier and shrink wrap wherever possible and use only marine grade connectors.

What your take on neoprene paint, Seems like it would do the job but a bit messy, Or should i stick to the die-electric grease.

Do not have ANY exposed connections at ALL when running TL in saltwater.

I thought I had mine done up pretty good and got my ass kicked this weekend.

so,

solder, and double heat shrink?

thats how I spliced my E box back together, and its been fune, ( freshwater thoough)

I have never seen a connector that was water tight or water proof, other than the GM weatherpak types, and they are spendy. ( and the still rely on installer not breaching the seals)

For one thing, I need to replace all the old wiring and waterproof that to begin with, because that old stuff was corroded.
I will double hs every connection and then double them up in a bundle.
I need to think about this some more.

You need to talk with Paul L, he repaired my Electrical box and I have not had a single spot of water in it since he worked on it.

Duhhh......Paul is the WIZ!! :Banane01: :woot: I prefer to screw things up first then send it off to a professional

Thanks guy`s, I do freshwater mostly but was told not to take the jetnetics box out on the sea.
Seems dumb for a watercraft product, But there you go.......

How do you rate the jetnetic stuff... The hit is good , but now i waiting for it to fail on me.

Okay...I am getting ready to reinstall my TL. I made sure the flywheel gasket has gasket sealer on it. Every wire is heatshrinked. Every connection is either soldered or is using the MSD waterproof connectors.
All grounds go to one stud. All wire ends and connectors have silicone and/or dielectric grease on them.
I am going to be using a terminal strip soon.
