Water in the foam, how bad is a little?

Hey ya'll... I don't post here much. So I apologize if this is the wrong spot to post this.

I have a 94' FX-1...

I installed my foot strap last night, and I had no choice but to go through the middle of the tray. The holes for the threaded inserts went all the way through to the pump cavity area.
I tried to silicone it up but after riding for about 20 min today I saw some small bubbles coming out from under the pump cavity.

So I cut my ride short so as not to take on too much. But i'm sure that some got in there prior to the discovery. I'm gonna silicone the poop out of it so it doesn't happen again, but that doesn't address my problem.

My problem: should I do anything/ worry about the water that got in?
If so what can I do to get it out?

Thanks in advance! I hope you can help.

put some drains in.
do not use silicone!
use urethane, same stuff you would use to glue a windshield in. you can get it from your local auto parts store
its around $20.00 a tube, you use a regular caulking gun to apply it. if you don't have one just squeeze the sides of the tube and it will come out the nozzle. its thick and messy so don't get it on anything you want to stay clean, it does clean up with lacquer thinner or acetone.

If you go through a glass-foam-glass sandwich you should core out the foam so that the hole in the foam is bigger than the hole in either side of the glass, then fill the hole with a doughnut of epoxy with microbaloons or a mix of shredded glass and epoxy and then re-drill the hole through the now solid glass. Use an allen wrench chucked in a drill to hog out the foam in-between. I have seen them do it this way in boat-building many times.

Hmm... I already siliconed it. So should I remove the silicone?
Any suggestions on removing that? (just scrape it off I guess?)

The holes are directly above the pump, so space is limited.

Also, will the water automaticly head towards the lower corners? I guess its bound to happen, but I didn't know if it would embed in the foam and just stay there...

Thanks so much for the response! This has been a great help.

Alright, I scraped off the silicone.

I ended up using 3M Marine Epoxy to seal the holes. Do ya'll think that will do the trick?
I put on a pretty thick layer, and i'll put on another tomorrow at 5. I'm riding Sat at noon so I should be dry enough.

yeah I'm sure it will be fine.
depending on what foam you have in there will determine if it will soak up the water.
put the drains in.
remember water is heavy even in small amounts.

Will do, I think i have an idea for drain plugs. I'll add to that thread if it works well.

The 5200 was pretty dry this morning, so I slathered on another wider layer. I can't imagine any more water will get in.
