Other Want to test some new board software that we're looking at for the X?

Realize it's just a test setup, anything you post there WILL NOT SHOW UP HERE. Also, some other stuff doesn't work like attachments.

We just want to get a feel for the software and if it's usable, etc.

There is nothing wrong with this one. It is so easy to use and navigate. Simple buttons and not flashy. No one has complained about it, so why should we switch? The new layout is too flashy and hurts my eyes. This theme is dark and settle, nice and easy.

The fact that we all have a karma of +10 is pretty darn amusing, you have to admit! Seems like another attempt at positive reinforcement, mind control, like the "thanks" button....what do you think psych major? LOL I agree with you, I like what we have, and it's too game-like atmosphere! I need my spa atmosphere!

This software is expensive and while users may not see it, vbulletin made some huge changes with the new version that have broken a lot of things and/or made it very difficult to modify. Things like removing hooks, the template system, etc are big deals to webmasters. Also, many features they promised have not been added.

We'll keep coming back here no matter what. Just make sure that we can have multiple themes/styles, the black background is eye numbing after awhile.

I have 2 themes on the other board already, default is dark with a light theme as an option in your profile. I haven't found a quick chooser for it yet.

I understand budgets though. When I tried to load a photo via manage attachments, it appeared to pull up previous posts. I imagine I missed it, but I did not see the route to upload. Edit: nevermind, just saw the relative news note.

Those yellow headers are def horrific on the eyes for sure though! Some may not visit the site as much unless you can tone that down.

I say that if we never tried anything new, we would still be stuck a few versions back and not even know what we could be missing. There have been some growing pains over the years but Darrin has always made us come out better than we went in and we need to trust his judgement.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained so my vote is to go forward.

There is a lot to be said for how a site looks and functions, relative to acquiring new membership, as well as obtaining old. Marketing 101. This current software def is sleek and appealing.

You mean how the current software looks after a ton of tweaking which I haven't done on the other. I can give it the exact same colors as this, but the bigger question is the usability of posting, attachments, etc. It doesn't appear you have even posted on the other forum yet but have already dismissed it as junk.

Also, we will not go to a mandatory membership fee, ever.

nah, I didn't dismiss it as junk, and I was tinkering with it as you typed this...even made a post in a locked thread, HA!

I commented on what first came to mind, which is what your new members will do with whatever you have running anytime (first impression, just like a resume)...take the comment on the current software as the compliment it was intended to be, not a personal insult. I checked out the four themes thus far. It is good to know you can alter the blinding yellow. It seems user friendly enough. The stats are interesting...not sure if that is viewable on this current software.

I'll be more interested when the manage attachments option is functional to test, since that is what I utilize frequently.

I like it! Don't really care for the yellow, but you said that can be changed. I love the layout and ease of use of X, compared to other forums I go on (PWC & Banshee forums) Change what ever you want, the people here will still be awsome!
