I like tinkering and decided to throw a volt meter on my ski.

I have a waterproof 4.5v-30v meter installed on my chinpad. Here's a link to one on ebay. Or just search ebay for waterproof volt meter and look at the ones that are similar to mine. I ordered from somebody in the US, can get it for under 10 from china.

I dremmeled out a box on my chinpad and 5200'd the meter right in. Ran some smallish gauge wire to the battery, I also wrapped it in the plastic tubing to kinda protect it a bit. Soldered and shrink wrapped everything. Results below.

Everything was groovy except, the :):):):)ing sun! Who would have thought the sun would make reading this thing impossible. Actually, it isn't too horrible. I just have to put my hand over it to read it. Practice some one handed riding I guess. The green one might have been a bit easier to read.

Ran it today at Antioch. Was pretty tits. Battery started at 13.4, but went all the way up to 14.5 after riding for half a tankish. But went down to 14.3 when I shut it off. Maybe charging system isn't too good for these lithium batteries... meh.

Looks good. I remember this got brought up not too long ago. Glad to see it panned out for you. Is there an auto-off or do you have to disconnect it yourself?

I actually looked for a small waterproof switch on ebay/radioshack/frys etc... but couldn't find a nice small switch for my application. So it's hardwired to the battery like the bilge. Next up: Water level indicator. Water in hull that is. That'll be fun :^).
