Super Jet vinyl wrap

3 questions

1- getting my ski vinyl wrapped and tossed on whether to do the bottom. I do not beach my ski anywhere, it only goes from the trailer to the water and back on the trailer. It would look allot better if it were a full wrap. Any thoughts on longevity?

2- when putting turf back down, I was going to have them overlap the vinyl into the turf area by at least a half inch and then just turf over it. Has anyone done this?

3- has anyone used the turf from xmetal that has a adhesive backing vs using cement?

1- don't wrap the bottom unless your going to clear the entire ski for strength. My ski was fully wrapped and the bottom lasted from the wrapping table to the back of my truck.... I had a blanket in the bed, we pushed the ski on the blanket, boom, ripped the bottom. My suggestion is to wrap just enough under the nose so while on the beach it looks great. Look at blowsions paintjobs for an idea on how far to go and either paint or gel coat the rest of the bottom black or white.

2- I wouldnt do a half inch because if it separates from the ski, now you'll have a half inch of unglued turf that will Possibley get torn more. I would stick between an 1/8 and a 1/4. My ski was wrapped whith the ski turfed and I have had no problem around that area as far as wrap coming off.

3- peel and stick turf is absolute garbage. Save the head ache and use contact cement.

1) I wouldn't wrap the bottom, vinyl isn't very durable, especially when its constantly in contact with water. I make stickers and graphics, and I've never had luck with wraps on the very bottom, but the sides of the bottom deck isn't too bad.

2) That should be fine, turfing on top of the vinyl shouldn't be a problem, as long as they lay down the excess material flat and not wrinkled.

3) Spend the extra 2 hours and do the turf right, use contact cement for a better finished.
