Should the edges of the footholds be fitting tight up against the ski or should I have some gaps on the bottoms and back of the footholds that will get pulled tighter with the screws?

It won't matter if theres gaps. My diggers had huge gaps but screws and epoxy did the trick.

You can have a few gaps... just make sure you glass over all seams to ensure it won't leak.

put them where you think they will be comfortable.

i pulled mine toghther with screws, worked perfectly.
