Ugh, stator. You nasty!

This was actually from earlier in the season when I just got my SJ. Had a lot of trouble from my start/stop but eventually discovered it was not the only culprit. When I opened the stator cover there was what looked like a dribble of blue loctite around the mating surface to the case. Obviously this was allowing water to flood in resulting in this crustiness. Time for a JSS rebuild!

The stator is likely good- consider sanding off the rust on the outside of the laminations. However, the starter motor is prob. ruined. Water corrodes needle bearing and armature shaft.

Didn't try to do anything to it since I want one done by JSS anyways. Starter didn't give me any trouble but, now that the season's over, I'll tear it down to check it out.
