Super Jet turfing

I think its best to follow the instructions on the product your using. I use Dap contact cement, its a single coat on both surfaces to be joined unless the turf seems to have sucked it up too much (honestly 1 each seems to do it for me) most important is to wait for the appropriate tack up time based upon your ambient air temp and slap them together being sure to use pressure both surfaces together to really activate the bond. My turf jobs over the years have been fine. Anyone else have different experiences?

I used Dap and at first didn't let the two single coated surfaces tack up and the glue would not stick or dry very well. I peeled them apart and let them sit for about 10 or 15 more minutes and when I slapped it down the second time it bonded instantly, so I guess the moral of my story is just make sure you let it tack up first.:silly:

i havent turfed my sj yet but my 650sx has been turfed for a little and it has help up fine i also used dap weldwood in red can at walmart for like 6 bucks rather than online for 20 at first ride ull find where you have to go over the turf again to get it to stick but u should have plenty of extras

I am using the dap contact cement and waiting about 10 minutes before I put it together. I tried two coats on the first part and it seems to be holding ok so far. But then again I'm the world's worst turfer ever. I hate turfing!

turf needs an extra coat because it sinks in
underpad can suck up a lot of DAP
the essential thing is to wait until you think they are ready to bond, then wait another 5 minutes,
then stick em together

Here's my method....

DAP Weldwood red can only. Coarse sanded & acetone on all parts to be glued. ie hull, turf and padding. 3 coats for turf or padding, 2 for the hull. Glue can be tacky in between coats but let dry fully before sticking. Rubber mallet to pound all together and make stick and it's not coming off until you go to take it off.
