Custom/Hybrid Turfing ?'s

One of my footholds is all ripped up and needs to be returfed

They are Lucas style footholds

Anyone know what underpad to use and what turf would be best
i was thinking waffle turf but I am clueless on the underpad

Where is the best place to order from?

Best place to order from is either HydroTurf of ebay. The reason I say e-bay is a lot of time the sellers sell hydoturf products without the high dollar shipping that hydroturf usually charges.

The two most common paddings are 8mm and 25mm. There is a distant difference between the two and you should be able to tell the difference between them.

I've found that the diamond molded turf works really well (traction) along with durability. The only downside is that there are only a couple options in color, light grey, dark gray, and black. The colors didn't bother me and by the looks of your avatar, the colors won't effect you.

I do the 25mm grey pad on top so it can be sanded and shaped. The plush stuff is really tough to shape.

You will have to check if Lucas' footholds are usable with the 25mm underpading. Some footholds are able to use them while others aren't. But yes, the 25mm foam is VERY EASY to shape. So just any type of sandpaper with very little pressure can be used to shape to desirable shapes and dimensions.

What's the best way to fit everything on the bottom of the footholds

Glue the bottom on first and stretch the turf around and over the top?

Do two sections?

Thanks for the help

Check out www.mcmaster.com i bought under padding from there at a fraction of the cost from hydro turf and it is great stuff...you can get it all different thicknesses and they have FAST shipping...of course doesn't help they are in NJ and I am in PA...have it next day usually. If you do a search on here you can find a pull parts list of just about anything ski related that they sell cause there is just TOO much dig through on their site. Clue the underpad down first then glue the turf to the underpad. Good luck!! O and if you call hydro turf you can order 2nds and save some money.

Bunk all this noise. Molded turf is the toughest stuff by a longshot, cleaner lines too-but higher cost, well worth the extra cost compared to cheaper products that wont hold up. Cut/glue the padding in first then cut glue the turf atop the padding. Secret is to give the contact cement time to tack up on both surfaces. This really secures the bond. A good turf job really makes a visual difference
