Super Jet Trying to make that move... Superjet or A/M Hull

Well, i guess its been a long time coming, i have sold my sxr, and im trying to make that move over to a superjet or aftermarket hull.

Im on a serious budget so i doubt i'll be able to move to an aftermarket hull which kinda sucks but the super-jet will definitely be more toss-able then my sxr.

Now i guess, i have a few questions and looking for advice from you guys.

1. Theres a guy on here as well as on craigslist who listed a wdk x-jet for 900 bones, sounds like a steal but cant seem to find anything on this hull, Any good? Am i going to be stuck with the thing when i want to move on? Its 95lbs im mostly going to be riding surf, how will this thing hold up?

I could grab that hull and a yami 760 motor and call it a day, any shot i can put a kawi 800 motor in it? I loved my 800 motor and the power it had.

2. Try and find alternate aftermarket hull.

3. Try and find a relatively setup superjet. Just want to be able to roll off of boat wakes and some surf.

What do you suggest. Im lost ive been following kawi mods for a while not really sure where to start with yami stuff.

Saw that thing a while back, didnt think it was still around.

I dont want anyone to think i was lazy and didnt search for stuff yet, im just not sure where i should start or what i want to go with lol

He said he liked the power of the 800, not necessarily the kawi aspect.

It would help to have a budget for us to go off of.
Are you handy with fiberglass?
300sx conversions seem to be popular.

One thing I've learned is... Kawi and yamaha engines can produce the same power with the same mods. I was able to get the same amount of power out of my kawi 750 as I did out of my 701 engine by using the exact same mods and an appropriate prop. I know tons of people swear that they can feel more power after converting to a SJ engine in their kawi hull. I couldn't tell a lick of difference in power between my 750 and SJ when riding them back to back. The biggest difference I found was that yamaha parts were easier to find but kawi parts are typically cheaper to buy used but more expensive overall because the chance of finding a used part is a lot lower so you buy more new parts.

I can prob afford around 6k which isnt much, i wish i could dump 10k into ski but i cant justify it here when i can only ride may to october, maybe ill just move down south to florida and ride all the time.

I've never done any fiberglass work however im good with machine work. I work at a machine shop and work on motors as manufacture things for customers using mills and lathe's.

I also get almost any car and truck part towing accessories etc, and i'm also an amsoil dealer. cost for cost on ski parts lol

How big are you and what exactly do you want to do on a ski? For 6K you can get a very nice SJ with all the goodies. From there its easy to shorten or lengthen the hull/pole to fit. A lightweight hull is great for flat water but harder to stay on top of in surf. Dont get sucked into the A/M hull hype until you know exactly what you want.

For that money you can easily get a ski with a big bore (BB) motor. A 760 engine is not a big bore. A true big bore is only 11cc's extra ay 771 but the big bore has new sleeves and porting and the difference is mind blowing. I personally think RN hulls are overrated. They cost twice as much as a SN hull and ride the same. There is a SN hull with a big bore motor for sale on here from some guy in Michigan for like $3k.

I ride mostly off boat wakes and surf, i would like a ski i can toss on the flat water for when nobody is around but i realize i cant have both worlds. i can get 6k but would rather spend less haha more money for mods and when i break . I just know i want something lighter then my sxr was.

I'll check out some square noses.... I know u said dont get sucked into aftermarket hull trend, but how are the gen one bobs someone local has one setup for surf.

Waternut is not a BOB fan. I can say they are fun as hell for doing freestyle and backflips but will wear you out as a recreational ski for cruising around chasing boats. The second and third generation BOB's are way better on the recreational riding scale and still awesome for freestyle. I never tried one in the surf but I suck at surf so my opinion would be worthless anyway.
