do i just use pressure treated wood?
what kind of carpet do i use?

THE BIGGEST QUESTION!

where can i get the peice that you drop the pin through to hold the bow of the ski...it looks like this and it ussually has a hard semi clear plastic around it " [ " anyone know? i cant find that anywhere online and the only trailor shop is 30 min away and they markup their prices BIG TIME! thanks guys

Back in 95 when I built my trailer, I used pressure treated then laid on the Thompson's water seal and they are still decent.

careful!

the new pressure treating process is differnt than it was a few years ago.

it Used to be C.C.A.

Now its C.X.D. or something, and its corrosive to anymetal it touches, you have to use stainless fasteners with it.

I suggest, using the newer pressure treated wood, sand it, lay on some thinned epoxy ( thinned with acetone) to basically encase it.

then use all stainless fasteners to secure it, and they are supposed to be 1/4" or larger I think to withstand the corrosiveness of the new treating chemicals.

you can read about all of that at the lumber yard.

check this out... scroll way down, almost to the bottom... top of page 21. However, I think you need to be a Hot Prodcts dealer to order, so check with John Zigler... he is a Hot Products dealer.

Good find.

Back to the bunks - anyone had luck one way or the other with pvc? 2"? 3"? Seems like it could be easily bolted from the bottom and last forever...

I've never liked pvc bunks because you can't angle them on the ends or put teflon rails on them.

If I were to do pvc, I'd foam them inside for some rigidity.
