Ok, I have an 84 550. The only thing 1984 is the hull. It has a PJS built motor in it. PJS head, cylinders, intake manafold, Westcoast pipe, aluminum waterbox, and dual minkuni carbs. Last year it ran like a raped ape! I repainted the hull this winter and just put it back into the water. I rode for about 15 min and noticed the throttle response was not quite what it was last year. I turned to head for home and the friggin thing died. It would start for about 3 seconds when primed then die again. I got a tow back to the dock and pulled the hood. I removed the flame arrestor and checked the carbs. Both opend when the throttle was pulled. All hoses were conected and nothing looked out of the ordinary. I primed and tried to start. The motor will run for about 5 seconds. About the time it takes to run the fuel out of the carbs. I did notice the fuel lines to the carbs were dry and neither carb was getting fuel. You should be able to see the fuel and air mix as it goes into the carbs. the questions I have. What could be the fuel prob? What cc's could this motor be pullin? How do I get the low and mid range back? Top end ripps my arms off when it is running right.
