To Glue or Not to Glue?

I just got a Watcon hood seal for my superjet and was told by my mechanic to use extra glue with the adhesion strip. But I have also heard of it working fine with no glue. Which one is preferred?

Also, Where should I start the strip? I mean where should the two ends meet up? I figured this is probably where water will come in, but it might not matter where it lines up

I didn't use glue. And I lined up the ends towards the tray/back of hood. You have to trim it anyways so you can get it very close together/tight. If not, you can use some silicone or some of the excess seal if you really wanted to get it clamped down tight.

I put 2 thin coats of DAP on the hull and then set the seal on, put seam at back of hood, so far it's working really well.

No glue necessary as long as you clean your channel. The 3m tape holds well.

Put the seam at the back, and use super glue to glue together.

I have never used glue on any that I installed. I like to cut the ends at a 45 degree angle, seems to keep the water out better.

I used weather stripping and didn't need glue.
