Ok so here's what I have:
'83(?) 440 hull without sponsons (stock)
A fully running JS550 minus the hull (driveline, engine, ebox, etc.)
A collection of JS550 crankshafts, crankcases, and heads
A 650sx engine with brand new crankcase and pistons
-Needs starter, exhaust, and carb
My original plan was to sell the running JS550 engine, all the extra JS550 parts and make a 550/650; however, I would need to get all (or nearly all) of the money for the conversion from the sale of the parts and 550 engine. I figure I need roughly $400 dollars to complete the conversion. I just have a few questions:
Could I get nearly enough money off an engine and a handful of 550 parts?
-Is a 650 going to be any more reliable then the 550? (I broke down every single time I went out this year)
-If I want to get into IJSBA racing is a 550, or a 550/650 going to be more fun? (more competitors in the class etc.)
-if I do the conversion am I going to need sponsons?
Any suggestions or comments on anything about conversion skis would be greatly appreciated.
