Yup, more dumb question from me. I need a starter solenoid that I can mount on the TL plate. The stock one has no provisions for bolting it down. I know there has to be an automotive solenoid that will work, Anyone know what I can use?
Thanks,
Bri

what kind of mounting plate are you useing? im useing the OEM solenoid and on my set up what we did was cut a hole the diameter of the solenoid. theres a little lip on the upper part of the solenoid before the terminals come up so it rests right there. then just take some 5200 and give it a nice bead all the way around front and back and just whipe it smooth. works great.

ill post pictures in a sec

I'm making a mounting plate out of 1/4" hardened stainless. The problem is trying to cut a hole in it. I used a plasma cutter to make the plate, just drilling and tapping the mounting holes has been a nightmare, I can't imagine trying to drill a 1" hole in it :banghead: . That's why I'd rather find one that I can just bolt down.
Thanks,
Bri

Hardened stainless what series are you using never heard of hardened stainless it doesn't have enough steel properties to be hardened. Why don't you just use a piece of 14 to 12 ga. T 304 Stainless? No need for ¼” plate.

Thanks guys, I just bought a typical Ford remote mount starter solenoid (off road
aftermarket) cost $25.00 with a 1 year warantee. The joys of owning a Yamaha- just opened the front flywheel cover to find yet another failed bendix. I gotta say for all the sea-poo hate, I've had more issues with my SJ than the XPL. All right my whining is done with :soapbox:
Thanks,

It's SS 410 It's some pretty tough stuff- I know 1/4" is overkill, but I have a big sheet of it which costs me nothing to make this out of.

I know, that's why the XPL is sitting in the backyard rotting :)
