tigershark help ....

my neighbor bought a 97 montego 640 and he knows nothing about skis. his girlfriend flipped it on their first ride and it took on a lot of water (fresh). he did get it to start on the trailer for a few seconds after sinking but not since. i have verified no water is in engine. there was some water behind flywheel cover which we have opened and drained.( it has one of the screw access caps which is iguess how water got in there) there was some in the ebox which we have opened and drained. i have unplugged what i think is their version of the black and white wires for the stop switch to rule that out. still no spark. comp was good. anyone know anything about these as to a likely culprit for no spark? can anyone help a brother, help a brother ?!

Did you wait till electrical things were dry before hitting the start button? If you didn't you may have fryed the stator by shorting it out because of the water. It's located behind the flywheel and

no he had been trying to start it since yeaterday when all this happened. he said it ran on the trailer after they loaded up and it started again when he got home but not since. by the time i got involved there has never been one cough or any sign of spark in either spark plug wire. nothing

Can you test the two wires that come out of the stator for polarity. Test them both to ground if you get a time on both wires them it's shorted out and no good.

just to follow up, he took it to a shop and it ended up being the start stop switch. i thought for sure i had unplugged the two wires that would have eliminated that as a possibilty but must not have. artic cats switch is different than yamahas so i must not have got the right one
