tie downs

I'm going to get some self retractable ratchet tie downs for my skis but just want to avoid buying a crappy brand since I'm ordering online. Anyone use these? The spot that I will be mounting them will definitely get wet every time I back the trailer in so I'm especially concerned about quality with regards to weathering. here is a pic of the general type of tie down I'm talking about.

Yeah, those are slick. I looked into them when I built my last trailer but ended up sticking with simple tie downs.

They are very popular on the hitch racks for electric scooters so they have actually been around for awhile and there are lots of reviews on them. They seem to work well in dryer climates but like most things that move, they don't like moist climates. I didn't dig that deep to see if there was a stainless version available.

i would just go to local home depot or Lowes and pick up ones one sale. i would def take them off before entering the water with the trailer and strap down after the ski is outta the water. the basic ones are good and if you use them near salt water just wash them down with fresh water when you wash the ski. i have ratchet straps that i have been using for for years in salt water and salty winter conditions for other winter toys and no issues.
