Other Threebond

I'm reassembling a stock 61x/61x motor and was wondering if I could use threebond for the reeds and intake instead of buying gaskets?

If threebond is used for the cases why wouldn't it work for the intake?

just not a good idea, chance of an airleak. I just tore one apart a few weeks ago with that, never ran right.

Why not spend the few dollars on a gasket and do the job right?
You could chance it with 1211, but who knows if it would work.
The cases are torqued together. Your intake isn't.

It wasn't about saving money, I was just think about it today when I was assembling the cases today. I figured maybe it would work, it just hate waiting for 2 weeks for gaskets since none of the yammy dealerships stock them. I don't know if its true, but I was told the X-metal 865's were assembled with threebond instead of o-rings, for things like the head.

Try it out and let us know how it goes.
If you are in a hurry, put it together like that and order a gasket. Put it on later.

I don't like being a test pilot, it always backfires on me :smashfreakB:

Not really in a huge hurry, I this idea just came to me when I was in the garage today. Engine build and laying up a set of sponson's at the same time is probably not the best idea. The fumes start to get to you haha!

The wait would be 3days or less if you ordered from jetmaniac or others.

Give Jetmaniac a try and see if it takes 3 weeks even to Canada.
I order all my stuff from Jetmaniac!! It has nothing to do with the guys shipping, it has everything to do with Canada post and clearing customs. When a business is run by teh government the last thing it is, is efficient!
