Yes the person on the ski should sit as far back as he can and be wearing a helmet with a visor so he can look down as the jet pump Blast of your tower doesnt pelt that persons face.

either and all ways around... its not fun period.

Selling all X2 and 650 parts - message me!
I'll add one other thing to this - I know an X2 when towed will fill the engine compartment with water. Not sure, but I believe the bilge system gets backflow from the pump and fills the engine compartment. Not sure but might be the same on 440 or 550. Just my two cents so you know...

My thoughts? Friggin hilarious! I used 50' of rope, got up to about 20mph, and felt this huge drag on the couch I was towing with. Looked back, that ski was gone! Rope led down at a 45 degree angle, I think the drag I felt was the ski ramming the bottom.... Popped back up like a Polaris missle when I stopped! Hardly any water in it, either, maybe 4-6".

Short rope, towpoint up high on the towing ski, towpoint down low on the 550, just like has been mentioned by others. If you have a person in the tray of the ski, you don't need to do the other things, at least in my experience.

I have heard of the 550 backflowing water when being towed, but I towed mine a bunch (my son killed the battery many times trying to start it-PP motors were somewhat difficult to start), and I always pulled the sparkplugs after towing, but there was never any water. If you're going to do it a lot, you could install a valve on the water inlet line, but I'm sure that would eventually cause you to run the ski with no cooling water.

if you have a lanyard for the ski, you can put it in the engine compartment as a reminder to open the valve before riding.
