Super Jet Thinking of selling my loaded '09 SJ

I am thinking of selling my '09 SJ.

How much is my ski worth now?

All additions were done by a select few, best in the business.

Always perfectly maintained (to the point of obsession, actually), there is no damage to the ski (other than normal riding wear) and it rips.

1 owner, never used for competition or surf, flat water only.

It started out as a brand new '09 (bought in Apr '09).

Then it went to Wamilton's, where over the course of a few visits (latest Feb 2010) it was basically turned into a "Wamilton's platinum edition" ski (https://www.wamiltons.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=469)
At Wamilton's a carbon fiber hood was added, as well.

Then the ski went to Xmetal in Apr 2010, where Chuck did the following:
New oem cranskshaft
Epoxy and finger ported cases
Cylinder fresh bore .25 over stock
new pistons <top end>
custom cut pump gas domes
freestyle porting on cylinder
new seals and o-rings throughout motor
fresh rebuild on carbs..all new gaskets, filters, etc.
matched head pipe and manifold

At Xmetal, Jason Stoyer widened the rails and installed the same fully adjustable footholds that Rickter FS-1/2 and XFS have ($489 + shipping + installation. See the last item on http://www.rickter-rrp.com/product_yamaha.html) . Without them I was unable to go inverted as I was falling out of my old footholds all the time. Once Jason installed them I instantly went inverted.
Jason also cut a "destroyer" ride plate, which, in his opinion, best suited this ski and my riding style.

I also have an additional, "less extreme" Wamilton's cut ride plate, which is easier to ride in the beginning.

I paid for it:
~$7,000 for stock '09 SJ (can't find the exact price)
~$14,000 to Wamilton's (see invoices below. I crossed out and did not calculate any misc. charges, such as delivery, etc.)
~$4,000 to Xmetal (will provide invoices)
TOTAL: ~$25,000 (this is for parts+labor, not including regular maintenance, pickup/delivery, etc.)

That is absolutely obscene man, I would keep it and plan to keep it for a long time with that much invested.

I didn't even spend that much on my Matrix with the SS865 and I don't ever plan on selling.

I do love the footholds though, we were just discussing them the other day and wondering how easily they would adapt to other skis.

i would talk to wamilton and see if he was interested in buying. if not, your gonna loose your azz if you sell. you might as well enjoy it yourself. looks like a nice package

So far the replies are anywhere from $16,500 for the red bomber, down to $8K. That is pretty wide, so I guess the best is when there is some indication as to how you got to your estimate (like with a red bomber).

I do love the footholds though, we were just discussing them the other day and wondering how easily they would adapt to other skis.

They are the best. I would not have had Stoyer rip the old ones (which were perfectly fine) out and put these unless I was 100% they were worth it.
In my opinion, a new rider like me can have all the power he wants, but if he has footholds he is falling out of, he will hesitate to go inverted (or end up hurt). On the other hand, if you have footholds like these that you know will keep you glued to the ski and allow you to manipulate it, then you will go for it (and eventually complete roll/flip).

Unfortunately the things you did could have been done for a lot less with the same quality. No one is here to bash the other companies or how much you spent on your ski but you need to realize a jetski is not an investment that you are going to recover aftermarket costs.

GL if you do sell, but I would just keep it and ride it!

My estimate is based on what other skis sell for.

ski's are just like bikes all the upgrades you do will only make them easier to sell when you want to get rid of it they wont add value 1-2 k at best if someone really wants it
my race bike cost 25 k to build i got 7 for it 12 months latter , you are better off selling all the parts and putting the ski back to standard that way you will get a lot more for it .

if i was you i would just keep it , i rite bikes off the day i get them that way what even i get back it is a bonus , so i just keep them now

We all know you never get back $$$ what you put into it. So I would be real curious to see what prices people come in at. It sounds and looks like a great ski!!

WOW, reading those invoices made me chuckle.

IMO that ski is worth $7K.
Here's how.
A stock salt water ridden SJ won't sell for more than $5K but yours has some goodies that bump the price up some.
I still wouldn't pay $7K for it but some would.

Look at all the custom skis for sale right now. You can get a lot of boat for your money.

Wamilton's does great work but charges quite a bit for his services. If you had shopped around and installed some parts yourself you would have been WAAAY better off for resale. You are always better off buying the ski you want versus upgrading the stock ski you have.
