well, my brother got me some prices today.

all i can say, is he can get me a KILLER deal on the gary fisher super fly AL. ( so low, i cannot even post here).

so, as soon as i can get ahead a little here in the shop ( hard time of year), as of now, i am planning on getting this super fly. IMO it is a lot of bike for the money. ( even at the 1800.00 reg price)

thank you again every one for the GREAT advise, ideas, etc.

i will post up, as soon as i bring something home.

The Gary Fishers are awesome bikes. You won't be disappointed at all!

I feel you on the riding. I rode Thursday, Friday and Sunday last week. Two days it was in the 60s, one day it was in the low 40s, lol. But, when the sun is out, you have to take advantage of it. We are getting hammered here today with rain, so I think my ride tomorrow is getting washed away. :(

Good luck with the bike. Can't wait to see pics.

Trek superfly.jpgWell, i DID IT!

ordered this Thursday, my brother got it in his shop Friday, i built it Friday night, and spent a lot of time on it yesterday.

i absolutely LOVE it. it really does not feel big, bulky, etc. i had it in really tight woods, technical trails, etc. love the ride. Probably will not ride my Specialized 26 ever again.... this thing handles awesome. I can go through the tight stuff fast as ever.

I cannot believe how light this thing is. best as i can tell, ( my shipping scale here at the shop) i get 28lbs.

Trek, Gary Fischer, Super Fly AL - Elite.

Is ur 26 specialized a hard tail?

yes, it is an older Rock Hopper, aluminum A-1 comp. hard tail. STX components, Gold Rock Shox Bullseye sealed BMX hubs laced into TREK ceramic coated wheels. I built this bike back in the early 90's, and it really has been a great ride. i just wanted a NEW bike....

My 16 yr old son will probably take over the Rock Hopper.

That weight sounds about right. Lose the tubes and go tubeless, you can save some weight that way. I would say it is probably in the 27 lb range. Floor scales not accurate for weighing bikes but your in the ballpark. My Rig (S.S.) is around 28 lbs as it sits converted to a 1x9.

Yeah, i know, i need to hang it with a scale. i thought about tubeless. it is definitely lighter than my Rock Hopper.

tubeless the way to go. Saves weight and gives much better "grab". I have had one flat since I went tubeless over two years ago. Had a nail go thru my tire, In and out. The Stans Sealant let me ride back to the truck.
