That's gonna leave a mark...

After 4 1/2 seasons my luck ran out... and decided it was my time to pay dearly.

Seems rod web for the wrist pin just gave out. Not sure if there was other factors involved, still got to completely disassemble and inspect everything. From initial standpoint the cylinder(s) still looks good outside the damage caused by the rod and debris. No signs of squeaking a piston, wrist pin bearing letting go (race on the broken rod and pin in cylinder don’t have any scoring, etc) but not exactly limiting them out at this point.

Damage to be seen so far is ruined sleeve, cases have a couple small gouges but don’t look to be cracked anywhere. Can’t get the cylinder off the top case so I got to cut the good (front) rod to get the crank & piston out of the way and figure from there.

Just what I was hoping for at the beginning of the ride season. :17:

Looks like a wristpin bearing went bad and caused the rod to break... Continued rotation of the engine once the piston was separated from the rod caused the shortened connecting rod to find its way under the sleeve and cause more serious damage to the connecting rod and the sleeve... And probably stopped your motor quickly
