Yesterday I took out my newly rebuilt 2001 Superjet to ride. As usual, I was airborne and the motor quit (it always happens to me in the air and I slam into the pad coming down). I couldn't get it to start and considering that it was cranking easily I figured that I wasn't getting spark. I am using an Advent and they are advanced on cranking and make it hard to start when firing.

Anyway, thanks to my Jet Ski Solutions quick disconnect electrical box I was able to quickly ohm out the stator and eliminate that as a problem. Then I ohmed out the starter switch to ensure that the lanyard wasn't the culprit (nope).

Finally, in less than five minutes I was able to pull the entire electrical box and take it inside to comfortably work on it on a table and swap out the CDI. Sure enough. It started right up.

Also, I called John to ask for the ohm readings of the stator wires and did not get an answer, but he called right back and gave them to me.

Combined with his obsessive compulsive (sorry John) attention to detail on his products and services (which is a good thing for the buyer) and excellent customer service, you can't go wrong. I now have a more easy-to-troubleshoot ski.

I got it last October as a replacement for a two year old one that was out of warranty. I really don't want this to start as a complaint forum against Advent. Greg at Advent was very good to me in that he warranteed my salt-water corroded Advent with a brand new one (of course it did fail on me, but still it was a good gesture on his part). I'm going to send this back to him to let him see if it fits the failure mode of some of the other cases that they had last year and then decide what to do (change to something else, etc.).
