Thought I would write a review of my favorite ski related purchase this summer. I think you could put this in the handling section right? Shoes help you with traction in the tray, therefore improving overall handling...maybe its a stretch but there wasn't a section for riding gear so I'm putting it here. Thanks to a lot of your recommendations I ended up trying out the teva gnarkosi shoes. I have to say I LOVE THEM! I know a lot of you use wrestling shoes, but if you decide to switch things up, try these out. You can get them for under 50 if you find them on sale like I did. They are super light, they drain really fast, they dry quick so they don't smell, and they look like normal shoes that you can sport at the bar after riding if you want. I get compliments on them all the time. They held up well to wear and tear. I used them every single weekend for 8 months this year in freshwater and they still look great. not sure how they would do in saltwater. I think I can get another 2-3 seasons out of them. So thank you to all of you for steering me towards these.

How thick are they compared to wrestling shoes? Are you using them with footholds?

Yeah, I was looking at those too. They carry them at Sierra Trading Post, we have a store localy, I just might look at them in Spring. Good info.

They are great shoes, and you can get them super cheap at Sierra Trading Post, I got both of my pairs for about $30 each. However this season I went to wrestling shoes and I personally like them a lot better. The Gnarkosi has a much thicker sole (just like a normal running shoe sole) so it's better for absorbing impacts, but I like the feel of wrestling shoes better.

If your footholds are already tight, would these shoes work or no? Are they that much bigger?

They are quite a bit bigger, the soles are like normal running shoe soles. From my experience they will not work if your footholds are already tight. I tried going back to these from my wrestling shoes to try it out and they would not fit in my footholds at all.

Good to know! Therefore they could be good for adjustable footholds, and if your footholds are loose, and they could be good if you turfed and padded accordingly for them to fit your fixed footholds. Hink, you think you could do us a favor and write a review on the wrestling shoes? That'd be great. for now reviews like this are fine in the handling section IMO.

Sorry for the delay, just got back on. No I'm not using them with footholds so I don't know, but like hink said, they are more like a running shoe. The thing I like most about them is how light they are and how fast they drain. For some reason they don't smell at all either. I forget what they made them out of but seriously, they were definitely designed for water. Very impressed.

I like wrestling shoes and have worn Asics for the past 4 seasons, but have switched to Vans high top padded skate shoes. (pick one,there's lots) They feel great and have more support and padding which is nice if I miss a kick in, rocks on shore lol, and they just feel nice.
