Team Core rider Eric Lagopoulos checks in after Cayman

I had the privilege to spend the last few days getting ready for the
16th annual Jet Around Cayman (JAC) race. This was my second time
participating in the race, the first year was 2009. I finished third
that year, which gave me more motivation to compete again and try for
the 2012 title. The days leading up till the big race I spent with
Pablo Ruosso and team from Action Racing, fine tuning my ski. The
ski was running perfect, it was the weather that didn't want to
cooperate. The team, the ski and I were ready on race day, however, it
would not stop raining. As the day went on, word from the race
director, Kenny Rankin, was not looking good. Buoys were drifting into
shore and waves on the south side were reported 10 feet plus. At the
riders meeting, we were notified the police had to access whether or
not the race would go on due to safety measures. We finally got word
that the race would take place. My team headed to east point to my
second pit stop where they would help me fuel. I was anxiously ready on
the starting line. There were 20 racers that started on the line but
with the conditions of the water, only a handful of people were able to
complete the entire race. Some racers fell off, others lost track of
the course and a few thought the conditions were too extreme to race.
A dangerous race, but one that I completed with pure adrenaline and
passion. I finished 3rd in pro class but was satisfied with finishing
the race with such harsh conditions. Thanks to Action Racing Cayman
Islands Pablo, Lee, Paul jr, John, Joel, Jettribe, Riva, Scott, Hydroturf the
Leggett family, Sabrina, and Jackie, I will be back next year even more
eager to win the title.
