Talk me out of buying a Canon Rebel T7i

We took a drive through the local wildlife refuge today dubbed "Alligator Alley". I was stopped and taking pics of a baby gator with my iphone when a guy pulled up and brought out a Canon T7i with a 600x zoom lens. Now I have serious camera envy!

One of my wife's friends has one as well and sends us incredible pics from the same wildlife drive so we were already thinking it but today clinched it

I have always been a Nikon fan but the reviews of the Canon have really swayed me, despite the price tag. The auto focus is a huge selling point for a newb like myself.

We swung by Sam's club on the way home to look at what they had to offer but they didn't have anything in stock.

So it's basically down to either the Canon T7i or Nikon D5600.

Are there any other good options that I should be considering?

Check out the Sony A6000. I did a lot of research before buying it for my wife, and took a hard look at the two cameras you listed. Sony was the winner in my book. Takes fantastic photos.
