I thought I would share my recent issue and related fix. Last lake ride, mid ride, ski turned over once then seemed like the battery was to weak. I pulled the spark plugs, cranked over fine, put back in, and started fine for the rest of the day. A week later, not enough power to get her started in the driveway. I pull battery, take to autozone and orilies, both say its a good battery. I inspect the battery wires from battery to ground, and battery to relay, to starter, all seem fine and tight. So, next i pull off the front engine cover, notice the stator magnets are a bit rusty looking, and a little oily, but not surprised because of the intermittent bendix issue I have had, when it sticks the ski obviously wont start, i just spray a bit of lube on the bendix, because I cant get the damn flywheel off to replace the bendix, and work it a bit with my fingers until it seems to engage and disengage fine.
So, next, I pull the exhaust and replace the starter, new one goes in without any issue, tighten everything up, and BAM! It now starts just fine. Guess it was just a weak starter, or starter going out.
On a side note, when removing the stock B pipe, at first i thought that the water jacket holes were clogged, but after looking at the new gaskets, apparently the water jacket holes aren't supposed to be open. If memory serves me correct, the gasket does not have holes for the water jacket on the gasket that's got a tab sticking off of it. Weird, but it is what it is. Sorry, didn't take a pic. :-(
