SXR 800 Ebox question

So... I got an 07 SXR 800 motor that I am going to put in my Chicken. The motor came with a stator but no ebox. My buddy Is going to loan me his ebox until I figure out what to do.

Should I buy an AM CDI, stater relay ECT and build my own box? Or should I just wait and get a OEM box? What would the price difference be between each way?
How much trouble is adding total loss? I don't plan on modding the motor (yet) I am just going to add a pipe.

Stick with OEM. You want this reliable and low maintenance. It's a Chicken, not a freestyle/freeride/race ski.

If you want total loss at a later time, any OEM 2004-2011 SXR CDI can be run as total loss since they're digital and use the battery for spark. All you need at that point is a lightweight flywheel. Pull the stator from the front cover and leave the trigger pickup. Done. And, it's reliable.

Otherwise, look for a J-Lines CDI-9R or CDI-10R. They're made by Mitsubishi and bombproof reliable.
