Switching the head

I have a 91 superjet 650. It has a Coffman pipe, intake grate, Solas prop, ported cylinders. I am trying to get more power without moving up to a 701. What would getting a high compression head do? Other advice for increasing power without motor swap?
 
I know you don't want to hear this, but hp for $ your best bet is to buy a 61x and put it in. That's 13 more hp than the 6m6 and you can buy a running used one for 5-600$. A good head is going to be more than half that and isn't going to make up the hp difference.

I missed the ported cylinders part. Have you checked compression? I doubt it was ported and didn't have the head cut.

I would recommend west coast heads I have 175psi with a west coast head!or just go 701cc jk
