It's a Pro-Tec bored up and ported 650-to-701 (so really a 701 displacement)

Certainly more powerful than stock 701 - nice engine.

I'd go with the modded one, especially if it has the b-pipe. That's a $500 investment that you'll soon want anyway. It looks like the pipe rubbed through the upper body. That's no big deal. If it is still rubbing, put a piece of turf between it and thehull. If I read the description correctly you are looking at the ski that is the 92 that he only mentions in th ebottom of the listing. Make sure that he starts and revs it for you as he mentioned that he does not want to put a cheap battery in it. Bring a good battery with you or ask him to borrow it from the other ski.

The only limitation I see with that ski is the 6m6 cases. You could eventually swap to 62T cases, and run a 61x cylinder if you wanted, and it wouldn't cost too much. The B pipe is definitely a plus, although it has the 650 chamber; but chambers are easy to come by. Good luck! -Kurt

so is that necessarily bad? I dont know much about these, so any info would help. He says its a 650 ported to a 701, which Matt E says is more powerful than a stock 701? The only reason i would have to upgrade then is to a 760.

The ports are definitely smaller on the 701 bored out from a 650.

It's bad in stock form. A 650 bored up to 701 will not perform as well as a real 701. The ports on the 701 are bigger (though they are lower on the 650! (Good))
Additionally, the ports on the 650 are sized for the 650 bore, so when you bore up they need to be enlarged.
That said, it's fairly simple to enlarge the exhaust ports to at least stock 701 size.
