Superjet trouble starting but runs fine once it gets going

I've a had 1990 SN Superjet with 701 the past 2 seasons and it ran perfectly. About a month ago, I noticed it had a bit of trouble restarting in the water after falling off. Now, it usually takes about 15 minutes to get it running, but once it does, it has no throttle or performance issues. The engine just keeps turning over like its not getting a spark, but I verified the spark is fine. Sometime its starts for a second and then stalls right away and others it keeps running without issue. Basically it is only having trouble starting although occassionally it does stall about 15 seconds after taking off from the shore. It does seem like it has more trouble starting in water than dry. If I can get it running, I usually have no issues until i need to restart it. So far, I've checked the start/stop switch, spark plugs are good, compression is fine, and replaced the fuel with new. I've been riding every weekend and this issue just started happening. Looking at past threads, I've seen somewhat similar issues which were related to the stator or ignition coil. Any thoughts on this? I'd greatly appreciate any help as I'm at a loss here. Thanks!

Does it still have the choke or do you have a primer installed? It could be many things but I would start with inspecting the carb For dirty filters or obstructions.

Hi Mike, thanks for the response. The choke has been removed off the ski. Ill take a closer look at the carb.
