Superjet Start Switch

Hey guys. I finally got my replacement start switch :woot: . Im hoping I can get it in after dinner here and go ride for a lil while. Any special tricks or tools that I am gonna need or is it a pretty easy job. About how long should it take me? Also, I am putting new spark plugs in before I go out. What should I gap them at? My ski is a 94 with b pipe, milled head, and bored carbs and a few other little things. Thanks for the help!!!

tie a wire or string on the old wires before you pull it out so you can pull the new ones down the handle pole .

If you have aftermarket bars, cut off that little tab on the inside of the area that clamps to the bars. It wont let the switch mount flush.

my 650sx switch went bad last yeaar and I couldnt find a replacement. Needless to say I wanted to ride, so I cut the wires and stipped them. To start it I just jumped the wires. Gave a little shock sometimes being in water and all but at least I could ride lol.

I asked some of my friends from school and they said it would not start by doing that so I didnt even try. Dammit... oh well what can I do now. At least I will know next time

My switch has been crapping out on me too. Sometimes it doesn't completely release the lanyard switch when I put the lanyard in, so the engine will crank but the plugs won't fire. I've tried takin it apart and cleanin it out and lightly greasing it, but no luck. The only solution that works is to just jam the key in harder, so it forces the switch to pop up.

Thats exactly what I had to do for a while. And then one day nothing. You might want to start searching for a new switch now. Cleaning mine did not do anything for it.

guys, if your lantard is keeping it from running, just disconnect the white/brown wires near the elec box on the carb side.

that will dissable the lanyard kill switch.

turn your idle down though, so it dies when you fall off.

You really don't want to grease it because dielectric grease does NOT conduct electricity :banghead: just keeps it from corroding and arcing

They're not made to be dry either as there is a drain hole in it to let water out but I hear ya I did the same thing until I saw the drain hole .
I got a new one and should be good for another 10 years or so

I know. I just used it to seal out water. I left the contacts dry, even lightly sanded them.
