Hi i have a kawasaki 750 right now but it is for sale and im in the market for a sj. Im used to the speed of the 750 so id probably want a 701 although it would be for freestyle. Would you suggest buying a ski with mods on it already or do it myself. Is the sj good right out of the box bone stock or are there "essentials" to haveing it live up to its potential?

All of those mods are great for flat.

If I had to do it over again, I would have bought a boat that was modded already.

You do almost the same mods for both. Most people like stock rideplates best for freestyle. For surf you really need to reinforce the hull.

if there is an intake great wont that make it hug the water more? Wouldnt you want something that lets it hop out of the water easier. Or is it for the acceleration.

I never ridden a 750 so I dont know. You want an aggressive intake grate to keep the pump hooked up like a worx 201 or an R&D. I had both and like the 201 better.

sell your 750 and get a modded SJ. if its done right it will have all the power you will ever need. plus you wont take the hit on the cost of doin all the mods. i bought my 2000 SJ for 4500 and it has about 6000 dollars in mods done all ready. find someone you trust and ask them about the skis you my potentially buy. if you need any more help PM me I'll be happy to give you a run down on what is in my ski and what some of my friends are runnin.

I bought totally stock on my first SJ. Instead of doing all the mods, I sold that one and bought a completly modded SJ. If I had it to do again, I'd do the same. :burnout:

ok but i dont really want to loose much reliability and dont really wanna run race gas. Id be interested in a sj with intake grate bilge bars f throttle pipe and maybe a carb. But i dont know a whole lot do these sound good to have a nice fast ski and keep it reliable?

What is your price range? That is what will determine what you can get for the most part. I paid 2700 for a 02 RN original owner that was bought in 03 as a leftover with a very nice aluminum trailer. It had worx 201 grate, worx and stock rideplates, bilge, factory yamaha cover, and maybe some other stuff I am forgetting. Now it has a limited chamber b pipe, waterdawg REV footholds, PJS finger throttle, ODI grips, -4" handlepole, black molded diamond hydroturf, wamiltons SS lowering bracket...i think thats everything, in addition to the stuff it already had. I now have about 3500 into it, which with a trailer that is easily worth 400 at least I don't think is that bad at all. I will say actually putting all that stuff on was a real pita though.
