I've taken off a 550 pump, but not an SJ. Is the removal the same? 4 bolts, disconnect hoses, and yank?

I also see 4 screws directly forward of the pump screwed into something plastic. I assume it's the bearing. These screws don't have to come off, no?

Thanx guyz!

Oh, any good source for wear rings?

Those 4 screws inside the pump cavity that are in front of the pump hold the pump shoe in place. Pull the 4 big bolts holding the pump to the bottom of the tray and yank. The driveshaft will come with the pump in a SJ.

Don't forget to take off the steering cable and loosen any cooling/bilge hose clamps.

Remember two of the mounting tabs have locating dowles in them as well. You need to let the pump hang down to clear these pins, then pull straight back.

Sometimes the pump gets itself pretty well bonded - you may have to pry it downwards to get it to pop off.
