Do you need to change the pump oil, similar to a sea-doo? I have the pump off and figured I'd do this if it's required.

If so:
Is it under the cone?

What do you put in it?

Thanx!!!

The bearings are pressed in place and packed with water resistant Yamaha Grease-A; it should last forever as long as the water stays out.

I use synthetic waterproof green marine grease in the NLGI 2.0 grade when rebuilding the pump assembly.

Interestingly enough mine has some oil similar to hypoid gear oil (stinky) and works awsome, very little drag on the bearings. (not filled up but maybe a bit less than 1/4) Im thinking it was an old racer trick back in the day.

That old stock Yamaha pump grease smells like death. I took off my cone and it was terrible. I believe I will rebuild my pump since it's stock from '93 and my mid shaft bearing had already went out. Besides, I'll have the impeller off too, if not for that I would just leave it.
