Custom/Hybrid Superfreak motor mount insert repair.

After a million backflips flops in past two years I finally discovered what was causing a rattle at idle. I pulled up a motor mount insert bar.My friend Roland fixed it really strong. Epoxied insert bar in first after drilling some holes in bar and holding box for more grab. Then 12K carbon over it. Whatcha think ? 20150301_121418.jpg 20150301_121729.jpg FB_IMG_1425241958844.jpg

Is that the right rear in matte's old freak?
Exactly, did you ride it and loosen the insert up before he sold it ? :) jk...had a rattle for for a long time couldn't figure out from where, the insert bar must have been moving under the carbon. Been doing flips with three couch mounts for a long time, apparently.

now why would you ask.....lol. Im just lucky because I ride like a girl :)

Nope Matt did that on some monster V wake hits (blew apart a bunch of CF mounts when it broke out the first time). I did the repair on it. I remember it being a pain in the ass because I didn't want to build it up too high with multiple layers and make alignment difficult. If you got two years of pancakes out of it I'd say it did it's job (surprised it lasted that long). That little anchor bar doesn't do much for distributing pull when you land upside down. I layered that with glass before the carbon to try and prohibit the galvanic corrosion between carbon and aluminum.

It didn't last 2 yrs, it's been rattling for probably a year now at least and we didn't know what the noise was because how it's hidden under the mount. The recipient box for anchor bar is fastened in with carbon around it and should not react to the aluminum.

It was corroded the first time from the carbon being laid directly over the aluminum. The little aluminum block was just sandwiched between two pieces of coremat that were the same height with a layer of carbon over the top. We hit the aluminum with a flap wheel then immediately brushed resin on to prevent oxidizing. Then cabosiled it back in place and layered over it.

That 12K carbon fiber is super strong/thick stuff. Might have to use sanding belt on that couch mount now to compensate height.

So you're fixing the rear right correct? Front right closest to the battery box (or pfp waterbox) is still intact?
Yes fixed right rear....far as I know front right is good maybe I better check the front right further since it's no longer oem spec :)
