Curious if anyone has used these before to fix their stripped manifold threads instead of a helicoil or time-sert? I have had these threads repaired with time-serts in the past from a local shop who has the tools to do the install. Recently I had a manifold that had been drilled out one too many times and I could not catch enough thread with a time-sert so I looked to alternative solutions and came across these threaded inserts from EZ-Lok. Much cheaper than time-sert or helicoil repair as you can install with standard tools (drill-->tap-->thread insert in and you are done). I used it on my manifold and it looks and feels great so far. Found them on McMaster in stainless for just a couple bucks (http://www.mcmaster.com/#97120a125/=w9mtxy). The tap and drill bit cost me just over $20 but Im sure I could have found them cheaper online.
Here is a link to EZ-Lok's website (http://www.ezlok.com/inserts-for-metal/solid-threaded-inserts/stainless-steel) for reference. Self locking, vibration resistant, pre-greased with locking adhesive, stainless, seals against gas and liquid up to 6000 psi....they seem legit to me.
Only downside I can see is having to drill out the hole a bit larger than what is done for a time-sert or helicoil....but if you are in a situation like I was were your manifold holes have already been opened up far to much and you have passed the point of being able to use coiled inserts, this seems to be a great alternative and allows you to use the metric stock exhaust bolt as well.
Chime in if you have used these or have any thoughts, just thought I would share my .02
