Stock up on fuel!?!?!

Im bored waiting for a meeting and I'm on the x checking out some posts. I saw onesojourners thread about what to spend 75 bucks on. I noticed alot of people say gas. I agree with that recomindation. That also got me thinking. For people not running race fuel (the majority) wouldent it be wise to get say a big tank like an oldhome heating oil tank (probably get it free) and use it for storage. Some how fill the sucker up with premium from the gas station. Gas may go up and down for a little but we all know that its going to go up alot over the summer. This way u dont have to pay like 4.40 per gallon over the summer. Maybe thats just to much work to save over just filling up at the pump at summer prices. This was kind of a rant, sorry. haha :Banane09:

true ive thought about it.

right now our premium is at 3.99 avg.

lets say you get 100 gallons. what a truck could handle 800lbs or so thats 399$

if the gas goes up to 4.50 a gallon thats 450$ 51:nono:
is the gas goes up to 5.20 a gallon thats 520$ $121 savings:Banane01:
if the gas goes over 5.20 the economy is f eeeedddddd:birthday:

imo 51$ isnt worth the trouble. you need to drive there store it. safely- and use it before it goes bad. 20 rides or so 5 gallon a ride.

the only way this would work is to get bulk and get a deal.
300 galllons would be 1197 1350 savings of 153 $

fuel oxidizes, just have to keep the oxygen off it
nitrogen blanket works- oil companies use floating lids like a pool cover
and the reason gas stations have underground tanks all across the country
is so they dont go BOOM!

I have a hard enough time moving 25 gals on a normal summertime weekend.

as bad as I hate to pay the price for it in a few months, its much easier for me to do so.

i want to convert a ski to run off of propane.

I wasn't around (in the US) to enjoy gas for under a buck. I spent my whole life paying world prices for the stuff so maybe that's why I don't have a problem with the current prices.

At $4 per gallon is still relatively cheep, if the Dollar keeps tanking against the Euro gas will go higher.

yeah, it was a joke.

But Im sure propane will increase in price as well.

most folks that Ive seen do it, go that route because its more like fuel injection, and better than a carb off camber, or even upside down situations.

Hmm, if I remove my gas tank, motor, pipe and waterbox THEN there is a lot of room for batteries and an electric motor. Oh man I'm gonna be rich!
